MOVIGATE is a concept for a mobile app to navigate to famous film locations in Vienna. 

We all know about the beauty of Vienna so does the international film industry. Almost
seventy years ago in 1949 one of the top all time movies was entirely shot in Vienna – The
Third Man with Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton directed by Carol Reed. Since then a fair
amount of international productions were using the picturesque scenery of Vienna for
some famous movies.

Millions of people have seen these movies. The pictures of Viennese culture, fine art and
architecture were spread to the living rooms all around the world. For numerous of those
people it was the initial factor to plan a trip to Vienna for their holidays.

Before the computer era and availability of the internet it was not easy to find out the
movie locations. The Third Man Tour was the only guided tour which is still available to
book. However it is a tour about that specific movie but what about the other movies?
Today there are a lot of digital possibilities with new media. It is about time to create an
application for tourists who are into movies and who would love to visit movie locations in
Vienna. It should be an application where all movie locations are collected, an application
with an integrated navigation tool which also provides information. All in all it should be a
timesaving and convenient tool to plan your own movie location tour.

A tool which makes the trip to Vienna much more enjoyable and every interested tourist
can benefit from and even interested locals can benefit from.
